Workshop 2025
The World Schizophrenia Day 2025 Workshop organized by Shalom Institute of Mental Health & Research (SIMHAR) was a thoughtfully curated, multidisciplinary academic event that brought together diverse voices in mental health to address one of the most complex psychiatric conditions—schizophrenia.
Under the theme “Beyond the Diagnosis – Comprehensive Approaches to Schizophrenia,” the programme moved beyond theoretical frameworks and into the realm of practical insight, collaborative care, and human-centered recovery. Each session built upon the other—starting from psychosocial frameworks, to clinical diagnostics, to pharmacological strategies, and the interface between substance use and psychiatric care.
The presence of over 200 participants from various academic and clinical disciplines reflected the growing interest in holistic mental health approaches. The structured schedule allowed for interactive discussions, multidisciplinary engagement, and peer learning, culminating in a vibrant plenary and valedictory session that reaffirmed the importance of integrated care in mental health.
The workshop served not only as a platform for knowledge dissemination but also as a call to collective action—to challenge stigma, strengthen systems, and humanize the journey of those living with schizophrenia. Dr. A. Thirumoorthi, M.Phil, Ph.D. (NIMHANS)
